PTSD & Trauma
Safe, trauma-informed care for post-traumatic stress and recovery.
What is PTSD & Trauma?
Trauma is the lasting emotional and psychological impact of experiencing or witnessing a distressing event. This might include accidents, abuse, violence, natural disasters, sudden loss, medical emergencies, or prolonged exposure to stressful and unsafe environments. Trauma is not defined by the event itself, but by how it affects you.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can develop when the nervous system becomes stuck in a state of threat response. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, avoidance, irritability, and difficulty trusting others or feeling safe. These are normal responses to abnormal experiences — and with the right support, recovery is possible.
